Despite the bad weather, Romeo Crennel shined bright as the Cleveland Browns defeated the New York Giants 17-14. Cleveland had great contributions from their rookie class.

Rookie QB Charlie Frye, from Akron University, threw a 9-yard TD pass to tight end Paul Irons in the third quarter to put Cleveland up 14-7. Rookie Tyler Jones kicked a 41-yard field goal with 6:18 left in the game to put the Browns up. Afterwards, the New York Giants had two more possessions, but failed to capitalize. Cleveland's defense proved too strong. Rookie CB Antonio Perkins, from Oklahoma, helped the Cleveland Browns seal the deal by intercepting a pass from Tim Hasselbeck. Braylon Edwards, who ended his hold out on Thursday, did not play. The Browns also sustained another injury when rookie safety Brodney Pool suffered a concussion on the opening kick off.

Eli Manning, who has struggled in training camp, threw a 20-yard TD pass to Plaxico Burress in the first quarter. Manning finished 6 of 8 for 53-yards. New York Giants starting running back, Tiki Barber, added two carries for eight yards. Mike Cloud, the Giants' third-string back, had 58-yards on five attempts and rookie Brandon Jacobs had 12 carries for 73-yards.
