Looking to add more depth at running back, the San Francisco 49ers added free agent DeShaun Foster for $1.8 million over two years.

Last season Foster led Carolina with 876 yards on 247 carries and three touchdowns.

Commentary: Foster provides a more experienced backup to Frank Gore than former Penn State quarterback Michael Robinson. However, he averaged only 3.5 yards per carry last season, and he has had problems with fumbling over his career.

Fantasy Football Impact: Foster lingered on fantasy rosters while he split time with DeAngelo Williams in Carolina, though he rarely put up fantasy starter numbers. His carries will be limited to five or so per game behind Gore, so he will not make it onto many fantasy rosters next season.
