It's been one heck of a ride the past few weeks for the San Francisco 49ers. Whether it's Vernon Davis hitting the showers, Mike Nolan getting the boot or Mike Singletary dropping his pants, the 49ers rank right up there as one of the NFL's most dramatic teams. Because of that, a bye week was the best thing that could have happened for a 2-6 club clouded by chaos and futility. But, with the Arizona Cardinals next on the 49ers' schedule, another loss is likely.

Commentary: It's the perfect storm for the NFC West-leading Cardinals and their offense. They lead the league in points scored at 29.3 per game, and San Francisco has been downright generous this season in handing out 28.8 points a contest. More discouraging for the Niners is that the 5-3 Cardinals will be at home, where they're incredibly difficult to beat. They are 3-0 this year at University of Phoenix Stadium and haven't scored fewer than 30 points in any of those games. Add it all up, and it doesn't look good for the 49ers.

Fan Pulse: Not all followers of the 49ers think they will lose Monday against Arizona. In fact, one optimistic gent is predicting a "Monday Night Football" upset.

Fantasy Football Commentary: Look for a heavy dose of RB Frank Gore. The only way to stop the Cardinals will be to hold on to the ball for as long as possible. Translation: Run, Frankie, run! The Cards do give up 23 points a game, so there are end-zone opportunities to be had.

Injury Watch: Tight end turned fullback Delanie Walker was in a sling this week to support his elbow, but he is now looking good to start Monday.
