It's doubtful the 5-8 San Francisco 49ers will end the season at .500, but it's worth discussing when you consider that they have won three of their last four games. The hard-charging 49ers end their season with games against the Miami Dolphins (8-5), St. Louis Rams Victories in their next 3 games against the Miami Dolphins, St. Louis Rams (2-11) and Washington Redskins (7-6).

Commentary: Now that the 49ers have broken out of their hibernation, they can focus on gaining some momentum heading into 2009. The toughest challenge will come in the form of the Dolphins, one of the most surprising teams this season. Miami doesn't make many mistakes, something the 49ers were allergic to the first half of the season. Moreover, the Dolphins will be fighting for a playoff spot, so you won't catch them sleeping.

Other than that, the bottom-feeding Rams and struggling Redskins are certainly beatable opponents for red-hot San Francisco.

One has to believe that coach Mike Singletary will have the "interim" tag removed from his title if the 49ers can end the campaign in strong fashion.

Fan Pulse:
Should the 49ers wait until the end of the season to decide who will be their head coach in 2009? That's the question on 49er fans' minds.

Fantasy Football Commentary:
QB Shaun Hill is a nice pickup and will likely be on the waiver wire. How he will perform if Frank Gore is out will be something to look out for in the final three games.

Injury Watch:
Gore left Sunday's game against the New York Jets with a sprained left ankle. He's questionable for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins.
