Pro Bowl is what you talking about, Willis

In our effort Realfootball365 to be objective here at RealFootball365.com, sometimes it is important to take time and focus on the positives of teams that have been in the cellar for a while. Sure, it's easy to knock the San Francisco 49ers organization for choosing Alex Smith first overall in 2005, but what about the draft picks they got right? Even though linebacker Patrick Willis is getting a chance to go to the Pro Bowl, he is still under the radar. This comes from the fact that San Francisco hasn't been in the news except for some dramatic moments between tight end Vernon Davis and head coach Mike Singletary. But while the NFL looks elsewhere to find news, Willis is now one of the best linebackers in the game. Here's to San Francisco for selecting Willis in the first round of the 2007 draft, then. It may seem like an easy choice in hindsight, but drafting isn't an exact science. Look at the picks of Jim Druckenmiller or J.J. Stokes, for example. Ouch.

Commentary: Willis won't be in any Old Spice commercials in the near future -- thank God -- but he is on pace to have over 100 tackles in his first two seasons, something that isn't easy to do as a young defender.

Fan Pulse:
Offensive coordinator Mike Martz is gone. That is the opinion of many 49ers fans at this point.

Fantasy Football Commentary: Shaun Hill will be the Joe Montana for your fantasy team this year and carry you to a championship. OK, he isn't the Super Bowl messiah, but I like him a lot this week against the St. Louis Rams. It's all about matchups and the Rams are a good team to face. Also, check out RB DeShaun Foster on the waiver wire. If Frank Gore is too banged up to play, Foster's a good bet for fantasy points.

Injury Watch:
Gore (ankle sprain) didn't practice Wednesday. He is day-to-day.
