Middle linebacker Wesley Flagg has been kicked off the North Carolina football team. A statement issued by the school stated the Fayetteville, N.C., native the dismissal stems from a violation of team rules.

The rising junior started three games last season for the Tar Heels, logging in 23 tackles and one tackle for loss. He largely played on special teams.

No specifics were given for the dismissal at the time of this writing.

COMMENTARY: Now the Heels will have big question marks at the middle linebacker spot, where the only returning player for that position is upcoming senior Mark Paschal. The rest of the candidates are freshmen, which is good news for coach Butch Davis' youngsters because it almost guarantees playing time for at least one of them.
