Tulsa assistant coach Jason Jones has accepted the secondary coaching position at Oklahoma State. While at Tulsa, Jones coached cornerbacks and special teams.

"He comes from a great pedigree and he is very enthusiastic about what he does," Cowboys head coach Mike Gundy said. "He has a great relationship with his players and is an excellent technician. He's a great recruiter in the state of Texas."

Jones relieves associate head coach Joe DeForest of those duties. Gundy still has one position (defensive line) to fill on his staff.

Commentary: Jones has a lot of work cut out for him as the Cowboys were dead last in the Big 12 in pass defense last season, allowing 286 yards a game and 27 touchdowns. Hopefully, his experience in playing defensive back at Alabama and coaching secondaries will pay off.
