De La Salle High School alumnus Demetrius Williams is already a star for the Oregon Ducks, but it's another wide receiver from that school that could make the biggest splash in Eugene this fall.

Cameron Colvin surprised a lot of folks in Oregon when he did an about face and chose to attend Oregon instead of Oregon State. Now the 6-2 190 lbs. blue chipper is poised to make an immediate impact for the Ducks. Although he is not a flat out speed burner, his blend of size, speed, and hands should make him a valuable target for Dennis Dixon and/or Brady Leaf.

If Colvin can make it onto the field of play in '06 he will benefit greatly from the fact that his teammate Demetrius Williams is one of the most highly regarded wide receivers in all of college football. His 1000 yards 10 touchdown performance in 2005 will ensure that defensive backfields will rotate over to him for the most part, leaving his counterparts in single coverage situations, and that will bode well for the rangy and sure handed Colvin.

We'll have to keep an eye on Cameron Colvin during spring drills and fall practice to see how he develops, but if he's as good as he says he is (he compares himself to Randy Moss), the Oregon Ducks could end up with one of the most potent pass offenses in the land.
