Maybe retired quarterback Brett Favre found out he was the best player in the history of the NFC North before deciding he wanted to come back.

According to Pro Football Reference, the Packers gunslinger ranks the highest of any other player in the Black and Blue division, scoring a 147 in its Approximate Value method.

Favre's 147 outscored every other QB on the All-Franchise teams by a hefty margin. The second-highest QB was Minnesota's Daunte Culpepper's 80. Jim Harbaugh and Jim McMahon tied at 43 for Chicago's all-time spot.

Scoring the second-highest was Chicago's Hall of Fame running back Walter Payton at 127, and third was Bears linebacker Mike Singletary with 124.

In a division with as many longstanding rivalries as the NFC North, there's bound to be disagreement. One poster took exception with the AV Method, in particular Favre's placement.

"[H]ow does [F]avre have a 147 he is the most overrated athlete EVER!!! He had a couple great seasons but alot of really bads ones. [T]here is no way he is even in the top 20 alltime QBs list. All of his good season can be explained by luck and the people around him."

Chicago's collective 43 at the QB spot didn't go unnoticed, and neither did the fact their wide receivers (Curtis Conway 38, James Scott 34) scored lower than anyone else's.

"[B]oy, the Bears have had REALLY bad QB’s and WR’s since 1970–and it’s not changing this year, either."
