Not to drop a big fat pumpkin on last year's Cinderella running back, but don’t look for the Packers' Ryan Grant to explode for another couple weeks. Grant amassed 92 yards on 12 carries in Green Bay’s Monday night win over the Vikings, but backup Brandon Jackson wasn’t far behind with seven rushes of his own. Grant had a 57-yard scamper late in the game but appeared to lack his signature burst.

As a former NFL and college football player, I can tell you from experience that hamstring injuries are tricky. Even if you’re physically at 100 percent, there’s still a mental hindrance that's just as hard to overcome as the physical one. Once his body reaffirms his mind that his hamstring is OK, look for Grant to fully return to his on-the-ground form of 2007.

I would imagine that Grant will continue to make progress over the next couple weeks and possibly be back to his old ways by Week 3 against NFC front-runner Dallas.

Fan Pulse: Even at 80 percent or so, Grant is the Packers' best backfield option. Jackson managed a measly 12 yards in the season opener, so fans are just happy to have Grant healthy enough to contribute.

Fantasy Impact: If you own Grant, don’t panic. He’ll be back to full strength in no time and he is still a great option. His 92-yard performance against Minnesota, which had the NFL's top run defense last year, was quite impressive.
