I am willing to bet the house that the Green Bay Packers are glad that they no longer have to deal with the Brett Farve coming out of retirement drama. After all, Aaron Rodgers can actually focus on the obvious task at hand – preparing for the 2009 season.

Please do not get me wrong, I respect Favre’s game and what he has done throughout his career as an NFL quarterback. I also respect his love for the game, but at some point, enough is enough.

I know that the Pack is not glad that they do not have to deal with the speculation of being told that Favre might come, decides to retire and then shows up midway through training camp. Plus he will be getting paid somewhere in the $10-12 million range.

Green Bay definitely will not miss the media circus that surrounds this whole saga. This training camp will actually be business as usual.

But, of course the Packers are going to have to deal with the fact that they will face the Vikings twice during the regular season. I wonder what the homecoming for Brett is going to be like at Lambeau Field?

I know if I were either Sage Rosenfels or Tarvaris Jackson, I would feel betrayed by the Vikings’ front office. I would definitely want some answers from my employers.

I also know if I am one of his former Packer teammates, particularly on defense would love to take a crack at him and not worry about catching some heat from management as a result of it.

October 5th seems almost like an eternity for fans of both teams. November 1st seems to be just that much longer. Those two dates are marked in red on the both teams’ schedules as the Packers will visit the Vikings first and then the much anticipated showdown at Lambeau Field.

As an added note, wouldn’t be a very interesting to see how a Favre-Rodgers game would go down. I am more than quite sure that the rest of the NFL would love to see that as well.
