Cornerbacks Al Harris and Charles Woodson didn't come to practice, either, but this week all eyes in Green Bay remained where they've been since the rumors began with the last pass of 2005: firmly on Brett Favre.

Favre, together with Harris and Woodson, were reportedly "kept out" of a Monday practice session, triggering crazy amounts of speculation as to why, why, why...

Coach Mike McCarthy, whose came dangerously close to breaking NFL records for impatience with pot-stirring media representatives, was emphatically quoted in Associated Press reports as stating that Favre "practicing all four days was never the intention, ever."

Unintentionally punning, McCarthy assured that "Brett has hit every target that we've asked" and continued with "I've said it over and over - We're just being smart with Brett. So he did what was on his schedule to do." This Thursday, prior to his annual charity softball tournament, two-sport star Favre will speak to the media. He will withhold comment until then.

Though the spotlight remained tightly focused on the star, concern is no doubt felt among Packer backers regarding high-profile signing Woodson.

A four-time All Star, Woodson's missed practices and days off work have got to be cause for concern. Whether Charles will ever be up to the form he showed in the late 1990s (remember that, due to various injuries, the CB appeared in a pitiful five games last year and hasn't played a full slate of games since 2001) remains the biggest question in Wisconsin this summer.

The current plan has Woodson moving in at cornerback to team with Harris, the third starter not practicing on Monday. Though team doctors have expressed some concern about knee injuries suffered by the cornerback as recently as 2004, there is probably no cause for alarm here. Harris showed excellent form once again in 2005, playing every game while racking up forty-six unassisted tackles and fifty-three total.

As another week passes in Green Bay Packers camp, with more questions than answers in the popular press, Cheeseheads may be awaiting the 2006 season more than any other fans. After all, win or lose, the stories during the season are about actually playing football, as opposed to not playing.
