On Wednesday, Green Bay Packers GM Ted Thompson announced that the team signed their seventh-round pick Kurt Campbell. In April's draft, Campbell became the first player ever drafted out of tiny University of Albany, a Division 1-AA school. He was a four year letterman for Albany, starting at Defensive Rover (a combination Linebacker and Safety) for the Great Danes. He is the fourth of eleven draft picks the Packers have inked, joining guard/center Junius Coston, guard William Whitticker, and defensive end Michael Montgomery.

Green Bay selected Campbell with the 245th overall selection, a pick they acquired in a draft day trade with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was the first of two 7th round selections for the Green Bay Packers; Whitticker was selected later on in that same round. In his college career, Campbell saw action in 34 games, starting 28 of them and notching career totals of 120 tackles, one interception, and 19 passes defensed, to go along with two fumble recoveries. Campbell will report with other rookies for training camp on July 25th.

Also on Wednesday, the Green Bay Packers announced that they have activated cornerback Chris Day from the NFL Europe injured list; and waived linebacker John Garrett and safety Chonn Lacey.
