GREEN BAY, Wisconsin - Charlie Jackson was named defensive quality control coach for the Green Bay Packers on Friday, the team announced. Jackson, 28, last worked as an assistant for the Air Force Academy.

The team's head coach Mike Sherman also announced the following changes:

- Joe Baker will be the secondary coach for safeties. The secondary coach for the New Orleans Saints the last two years joined the Packers on Tuesday.

- Bob Sanders, who joined the team February 8, will be the defensive line coach for the defensive ends.

- Robert Nunn, who joined Green Bay on Feb. 8, will coach defensive tackles.

- Lionel Washington, Packers assistant defensive backs coach since 1999, was promoted to oversee the defensive nickel package as well as coaching the cornerbacks.

- Mark Duffner remains linebackers coach.

- Brad Miller, former assistant defensive line coach, is now assistant special teams coach.

- Frank Novak, special teams consultant, and Vince Tobin, special assistant, are expected to retire. Novak might return on a volunteer basis during mini-camps and/or training camp.

The team will carry the same number of assistant coaches when Green Bay names a wide receivers coach to replace Ray Sherman, who joined the Titans on January 28.
