The Green Bay Packers designated tight end Bubba Franks as a transition player on Monday.

The Packers can now try to reach a long-term contract with their tight end. Until they work out a deal, Franks will recieve a one-year contract at the tender rate set by the NFL for tight ends. By using the transition player tag, the Packers will have the right to match any offer Franks recieves from other teams.

Franks, a three time Pro Bowler, is coming off a year where he had 34 receptions for 361 yards and 7 touchdowns. He is tied with Mark Chmura for third place in franchise history for career receptions by a tight end with 188.
