The Carolina Panthers signed linebacker Chris Draft and punter Tom Rouen. The veterans will be competing for starting spots in 2005.

The 5'11", 232 lbs. Draft played 14 games in 2004, recording 56 tackles, 1 interception, 2 passes deflected, and 1 forced fumble for the Atlanta Falcons. The Stanford product began his NFL career in 1998 with the Chicago Bears. He also played for the San Francisco 49ers in 1999 before joining the Falcons in 2000. In 7 years, he has accumulated 381 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 4 INTs, 5 pass breakups, 3 forced fumbles, and 3 fumble recoveries over 79 games.

The 6'3", 225 lbs. Rouen saw action in only 4 games last season due to a pulled hamstring. He averaged 42 yards on 26 punts for the Seattle Seahawks. The former Colorado player has been a professional since 1993. He has played for the Denver Broncos (1993-2001), the Pittsburgh Steelers (2002), and the Seahawks (2003-2004). In 12 NFL seasons, he has averaged 43.6 yards on 749 punts in 176 games.
