Carolina Panthers linebacker Mark Fields will miss the 2005 season as a result of his battle with Hodgkin's disease. Fields sat out the entire 2003 season while he battled the same cancer disease.

The 32 year-old Fields played in the Pro Bowl as an injury substitute this past season. Furthermore, he was honored in March of 2005 at the Ed Block Courage Awards. Doctors discovered this week that the Hodgkin's has returned in its early stages.

The 6'2", 244 lbs. Fields had 62 tackles, 4 sacks, 1 interception, 2 pass deflections, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery during 14 games in 2004.

The Washington State product previously played for the New Orleans Saints (1995-2000) and the St. Louis Rams (2001). In 136 games over 10 seasons in the NFL, Fields has amassed 755 tackles, 34.5 sacks, 5 interceptions, 26 pass deflections, 14 forced fumbles, and 8 fumble recoveries.

The entire staff at Realfootball365 wishes Mark a full and speedy recovery.
