According to the Boston Globe, New England Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi is considering sitting out 2005 for health reasons. Bruschi's new agent said Bruschi is pondering not playing this upcoming season after being treated for a mild stroke earlier this year.

The 31 year-old Bruschi was admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital on February 16 and released a couple of days later. Tucson television station KOLD reported the former University of Arizona Wildcat was later readmitted to the hospital so doctors could repair a hole in his heart.

Bruschi, who has three years remaining on his contract, hadn't been represented by an agent since his rookie season. He's scheduled to earn $850,000 in 2005, $1.35 million in 2006 and $1.70 million in 2007, the final year of his contract.

The 9 year veteran LB's deal could be voided should he retire. However, he could earn his entire salary if the Patriots elect to place him on their physically unable to perform list.
