The New England Patriots mandatory minicamp opened with unexcused absence of defensive lineman Richard Seymour. The Pro Bowler wants to renegotiate the 2 remaining seasons of a 6 year, $14.3 million rookie contract he signed coming out of University of Georgia in 2001.

The 6 foot 6 inch, 310 pound All-Pro player can play either tackle or end with his blend of strenght and speed. He finished 2004 with 39 tackles, 5 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery in 2004.

The Super Bowl champions are not accustomed to holdouts from their few stars during this decade. It is unknown if the team is actively trying to trade the player.
