Should the Oakland Raiders lose to the resurgent Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, they won't be able to use fatigue as an excuse. The Raiders will have had all the rest that an NFL schedule allows, losing 30-20 to the New England Patriots last Thursday night and then hosting the final Sunday game at 8:30 EDT.

The Oakland Raiders defense may need that downtime to deal with the Chiefs' two-headed running monster, Larry Johnson and Priest Holmes. Formerly Holmes' caddy, Johnson moved up to equal time in a 27-7 rout of the New York Jets, gaining 110 yards and scoring twice. Holmes added one touchdown, and QB Trent Green kept the Jets honest with 200 yards passing.

One encouraging note for the defending Raiders is that mammoth All-Pro tackle Willie Roaf may miss Sunday night's game with a bad hamstring. Another is that they held New England's Corey Dillon to 73 yards.

Randy Moss had a fairly impressive Oakland debut, catching five passes and scoring on a 73-yard bomb from Kerry Collins. That was one of three touchdowns Collins threw, the other two to TE Courtney Anderson. New Raider RB Lamont Jordan had 70 yards on the ground.

The Kansas City Chiefs will counter with a new-look defense, led by DB Patrick Surtain and rookie LB Derrick Johnson, which forced seven Jets' fumbles and intercepted Chad Pennington three times. DB Surtain suffered a concussion last Sunday, however, and is questionable.
