Patience is a virtue. Since 2001, backup quarterback Marques Tuiasosopo has been patiently waiting on the sidelines in hopes of one day becoming the leader of the Oakland Raiders. Now with a 4-8 record that mathematically eliminates the Raiders from the playoffs, Tuiasosopo's time may finally come.

Following a 34-10 thrashing on Sunday Night against the San Diego Chargers, Coach Norv Turner finally commented on the status of Kerry Collins and his future with the Oakland Raiders organization. The Raiders will have the option to keep Collins in a Raiders' uniform next year if they are willing to pay him roughly $12 million. However, it seems as if Collins may never see playing time again in a silver and black uniform.

When asked about the likelihood of Tuiasosopo taking over the starting job, Norv Turner responded, "I wouldn't have brought it up if it wasn't something we're considering strongly." Whether the move is made to build on the future or potentially to just save the job of Norv Turner, it is a move that Oakland Raiders' fans have been calling on for weeks now.

Tuiasosopo has been a member of the Oakland Raiders for five seasons. Drafted out of Washington in 2001, he has thrown just 49 career passes for 28 completions and 358 yards-stats that Rich Gannon often tallied in one game.

Turner's decision may come as early as Wednesday. The Raiders' downward spiral may not be a direct result of Kerry Collins, but the mobility and energy of Tuiasosopo may be the factor that equalizes the weaknesses on the Raiders' offense. With nothing to lose, the decision could be a very easy one for Norv Turner come Wednesday.
