It is no secret to those close to the Oakland Raiders that star wide receiver Randy Moss never hit it off with ousted head coach Norv Turner. There was very little to no communication during the two, especially towards the end of the season, and Moss certainly didn't help his former coach's cause, as far as retaining his job.

However, one does have to wonder how much say Moss will have in the selection of a new coach. In this day and age of pro sports, instead of always choosing the best candidate, team owners and general managers have to consider how their decision will affect the star players on the team, or in other words, make them want to play hard and be productive.

Moss did lead the league with 24.5 yards per reception, but his various injuries early in the year pretty much threw the offense into limbo, as he often took plays off (something he has admitted to in the past) and forced quarterback Kerry Collins to look towards other receivers in key situations. Collins was even benched for apparently no reason while Moss remained the focus of the offense.

Raiders' owner Al Davis knew exactly what he was getting himself into when he acquired Moss last winter from the Minnesota Vikings. He had obviously worn out his welcome in the Twin Cities with his erratic behavior and off the field problems. The biggest news he made in 2005 was actually during an HBO interview with Bryant Gumble that he's used marijuana since entering the league in 1997.

The latest case of "Randy being Randy" came in the season finale against the New York Giants this past Saturday evening. After Turner didn't include him in a goal-line package late in the game, Moss proceeded to prop his feet up on a water cooler in a pouting manner as the team failed on four straight opportunities to punch the ball in for a touchdown.

And after the final gun, Moss got dressed and left the stadium before Turner could deliver his post-game speech. Why should he have to stick around and listen to the babbling on the soon to be fired coach like everyone else? He's Randy Moss, remember?

Hmm, wonder if he'll show a little respect to the next coach, even if he does get a strong say on who it will be?
