While the Oakland Raiders head coaching job is still up for grabs, the former coach has landed a new gig. Norv Turner will continue to be employed in the Bay Area because he has accepted the offensive coordinator position with the San Francisco 49ers.

Turner will replace Mike McCarthy, hired last week as head coach of the Green Bay Packers. He has not yet signed the deal but has accepted according to those close to the coach. Before leading the Raiders and Washington Redskins, Turner has worked for Dallas, Miami, and San Diego.
His greatest success came with the Cowboys from 1991-93 on Jimmy Johnson's staff, when the team won back-to-back Super Bowls over the Buffalo Bills.

The 49ers are expected to hold a press conference as early as Tuesday to introduce Turner, who was fired by Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis on January 3rd after the team completed a 4-12 season, including 0-6 against the AFC West. In two years as Raiders head coach Turner was just 9-23, the worst two-year stretch by a coach in franchise history.

Turner drew interest from several clubs after being let go by Oakland, but has decided to reunite with San Francisco head coach Mike Nolan, who was Turner's defensive coordinator for three years in Washington.
