The Oakland Raiders re-signed free agent defensive end Bobby Hamilton to a $6 million, 3 year contract.

The 33 year-old Hamilton is a talented run-stopper and was the most consistent player on the Raiders' defensive line in 2004. He started 15 games last season and played in all 16 for the Raiders (5-11). The DE recorded 57 total tackles, 1 sack and 3 pass deflections.

Hamilton had been a member of the Patriots' defensive line for 4 years prior to last season. He won 2 Super Bowl rings in New England. The 11 year veteran entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Seattle Seahawks in 1994. In 1996, he joined the New York Jets and played with the ballclub until 1999. The Southern Mississippi University product has 392 tackles and 17 sacks in his NFL career.

He signed with the Raiders to a 1 year deal last May to help bolster what was the league's worst run defense in 2003. Hamilton earned the veteran-minimum of $660,000 last season despite outplaying linemates Warren Sapp - signed to a $36.6 million, 7 year deal - and Ted Washington - who played with Hamilton on the Patriots and is getting a $14 million, 4 year contract with Oakland.

After allowing his beat-up body to recover for a couple of months this winter, he will begin organized offseason workouts at the team's headquarters later this month.
