Ex-Raiders’ Barrett Robbins moved to Texas

Ex-Oakland Raiders center Barret Robbins was moved to a Houston, Texas hospital. There he will be able to continue getting physical rehabilitation and treatment for bipolar disorder. He is still recovering from gunshot injuries sustained fighting with Miami Beach police.

On January 15, police found Robbins after investigating a burglary call at a South Beach building. After being discovered hiding in a women's bathroom, he allegedly beat 1 officer to the floor, slammed a second into a wall and rammed a third cop's head into a wall. Police shot Robbins 2 times in the chest in effort to subdue the massive 380 man who was attempting grab an officer's handgun.

Robbins was discharged from Jackson Memorial Hospital, located in Miami, Florida. He has lost about 100 pounds in the hospital and is able to walk and eat on his own.

The former player has posted bond, which permitted the former player to placed in a hospital near his father's home town. Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Kevin Emas approved the arrangement.

The 31 year-old has pled not guilty to 3 charges of attempted felony murder, along with other less-serious charges. No date has been set for the trial.

Prior to this incident, Robbins was arrested for allegedly hitting a security guard in San Francisco, California.

The Raiders released him in the summer of 2004. The center had previously tested positive for steroids.
