While we breathlessly (not) await the first blinker in the high-stakes game of chicken between Oakland Raiders management and JaMarcus Russell, we also look forward to the future and another game. Specifically, tomorrow, and actual football (well, preseason football) as the Raiders travel to Seattle.

The following are a few to watch for with the season opener imminent.

Zach Miller, tight end. The more you watch this guy, the more there is to like. An honest-to-Madden legitimate heir to Dave Casper, Miller figures to fill the highlight reel for Oakland this season. If he's not making an impact catching the ball (or even looking good drawing an early pass interference call), he's throwing ridiculous amazing blocks like the one which got LaMont Jordan into the end zone. Can the official NFL scorers give him, like, half a touchdown in the stats for that one? Come on, he clearly appears to want that TD at least as much as Jordan did.

Speaking of running back LaMont Jordan, nice week for the man, eh? He made it look so easy at times against the Rams, changing the complexion of the game in, yes, Jordanesque fashion. Wonderful stuff again; the Raiders may actually have a running game this season.

Sebastian Janikowski. Though Sebastian is one weirded-out dude - an inaugural member of the all-criminal team - it says here that he can kick the football. The 50-yarder in the Rams game? Smooth. Janikowski, who was kicking 60-yarders in high school, popped this one without breaking a sweat. This reporter's hedging that, if any active player beats the 63-yard record, it'll be Janikowski. And it could be this week. (Yes, yes, I know it wouldn't be in the record books, but hey, it would be sweet.)

Brian Leonard. Well, yes, Leonard is technically on St. Louis' roster, but Fabian Washington's probably still looking out for him after having nightmares of posterization all week. (He's already been Internetized: Check out entry No. 17 in the photo gallery at the Raiders' official Web site. Ouch.)
