The Oakland Raiders took a step towards upgrading their defensive line by signing defensive tackle Ed Jasper. The Raiders fielded one of the worst defensive units in the NFL last year, allowing nearly 28 points per game.

Adding Ed Jasper to the lineup should help the Oakland Raiders the defensive line of scrimmage, which would be the first step towards correcting their decrepit defense. Jasper became an NFL starter for the first time last year and played in 12 games for the Atlanta Falcons before injuring his hand. He was released this past February.

Jasper played his college football at Texas A & M. In eight NFL season he has recorded 223 total tackles, 15 sacks, and six forced fumbles.
