Fabian Washington has agreed in principle to a contract with the Oakland Raiders. Washington, who played his college ball for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, was drafted by the Raiders with the 23rd overall pick. He is set to sign a five year contract worth over $7 million.

Fabian Washington is known for a being a flat out speedster. The 22 year-old Florida native has 4.3 speed and is considered to be a very fluid defender with solid coverage skills. At 5'10' and 183 pounds he is considered to be the prototypical NFL cornerback.

As of now, Nnamdi Asomugha is slotted to start opposite Charles Woodson, but Fabian Washington may have the raw talent to overtake Asomugha. He is practically a carbon copy of Philip Buchanon, the cornerback who used to be the other starter but signed with the Houston Texans during the off-season.

Washington was a three year starter for Nebraska. He finished his career with 145 tackles, 11 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles, and 38 passes defended. Unfortunately, his Cornhuskers defense wasn't exactly highly touted on a national level.

The only major knocks on Washington are that his height might prevent him from covering the taller NFL receivers and that he is not a great tackler in the open field.
