ST. LOUIS, Missouri - The St. Louis Rams have made another move to shore up their linebacking corps. The Rams remained active on the free agent front, signing veteran LB Chris Claiborne to a 3 year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Claiborne - who was drafted 9th overall in 1999 out of Southern California (USC) - spent the last 2 seasons with the Minnesota Vikings after 4 somewhat disappointing years for the Detroit Lions.

The 6' 3", 255 lbs. started 12 games in 2004 and made 82 tackles, his lowest career total. He added 1 sack and returned an interception for a TD in a 31-17 win at Green Bay on December 24.

The 26 year-old Claiborne - he won the Butkus Award in college as the nation's best linebacker - has played in 87 career games, totalling 720 tackles, 14.5 sacks and 8 interceptions.
