The St. Louis Rams signed perennial Pro Bowl left tackle Orlando Pace to a 7 year contract.

Rams president Jay Zygmunt compared Pace to Hall of Fame offensive lineman Jackie Slater when he announced the deal.

Pace has been designated the Rams' franchise player the last 3 years. He has been selected to the Pro Bowl the last 6 years, matching Slater's string of six in a row for the Rams from 1985-90.

The former Ohio State Buckeye was the top overall pick in the 1997 draft by St. Louis. At 6'7", 320 lbs. Pace has been a stalwart for the Rams, starting 115 of 119 games.
