A longstanding NFL-NCAA rule disallowing players still in school from participating in more than one minicamp with a pro team while school is still in session will keep quarterback Joe Flacco away from a four-day passing camp with the Ravens at the end of the month.

Commentary: You can certainly understand why this longstanding agreement was reached. Then again, Flacco has withdrawn from school, making it harder to understand the logic in this specific case.

"They want the kid in, I want the kid in, and the kid wants the kid in," said Flacco's agent, George Linta, according to a Baltimore Sun report. "I have this blue-collar belief: If you start now, you have a much better chance to finish this thing than if you start three days before training camp."

Such is not in the cards, however.
