Ravens defensive tackle Dwan Edwards will miss the season because of a back injury, the Baltimore Sun reports.

The Ravens have been without defensive tackles Kelly Gregg and Haloti Ngata all preseason thanks to injuries as well. Edwards started 13 games for the injured Trevor Pryce last season.

Commentary: The Ravens have been hit as hard by injuries as any team in the NFL over the past calendar year. After losing almost all of their cornerbacks and tight ends last season, the epidemic seems to have spread to their defensive line. Edwards had come a long way since being the 51st overall pick in the 2004 draft, and he will be missed by Baltimore this year.

Fantasy Impact:
Edwards' absence makes the Ravens perilously thin along the line. They uncharacteristically finished 6-10 last season, largely in part to a depleted secondary, but their run defensive ability was still near the best in the game. Injuries to Edwards, Gregg and Ngata will lead to a drop in those numbers.
