If NFL team logos were the equivalent of Rorschach Tests, the first word that would come to the mind of any competent football fan upon seeing the Baltimore Raven would be defense. And rightly so, for the Ravens offense has long better at stopping itself from scoring points than any defensive unit in the league. However, just as a general theme from the fall of 2008 repeated itself in the national arena, so to has Change come to the Ravens.

December 31, 2007 was the end of an error for the Ravens. Granted, that error coincided with our proud franchise's first and only Super Bowl. Ironically it was perhaps this very crowning moment that precipitated seven long years of consistent underachievement due almost entirely to acute offensive impotence. As stable and dominant as the Ravens defense was, the pointless offense was the curdled cream in the coffee that turned your stomach upside down. But how refreshing it is to have a change of faces in the head coaches office. It's amazing how quickly Ozzie Newsome was able to find a quarterback. As soon as the former coach whose name shall not be mentioned, and his hand-picked and ever so befuddled quarterback left the building, Ozzie found us a winner. It's funny how Kyle Boller got the job by impressing the former coach with his ability to throw from his knees, and then spent the next five years of his career trying to get off them. But enough about the past, I offer my thanks to both of you from the entire Ravens nation. But for you two overpaid and incapable cretins running the show for the previous five seasons, we would not find ourselves now on the eve of perhaps our most anticipated season ever. Perhaps after this season, the first thing that will come to mind when the Ravens logo appears will be young Flacco saying "Disneyland."
