The Baltimore Ravens signed linebacker Tommy Polley to a 1 year deal. The former St. Louis Ram was an unrestricted free agent.

Polley is expected to take the place of Edgerton Hartwell, who left recently via free agency. He is expected to play left inside LB - next to Ray Lewis - in the Ravens 3-4 defense. Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said, "Tommy is a very athletic player that can run from sideline to sideline. He has the ability to cover backs and tight ends down the field."

The 6'3", 240 lbs. Polley finished 2004 for the Rams with 78 tackles, 2 sacks, 6 deflected passes, and 1 forced fumble in 15 games.

A product of Florida State University who attended high school in Baltimore, Polley was drafted by the Rams in 2001. He has recorded 290 tackles, 4 interceptions, 18 passes defended, 4 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries during his 4 years as a pro with St. Louis.
