Baltimore Ravens running back Jamal Lewis' request to attend the minicamp next week has been denied by the Atlanta halfway house where he is spending 2 months after serving a 4 month prison term for a federal drug conviction. Lewis is scheduled to remain at the halfway house until the first week of August, when the team's training camp begins.

The rules at the halfway house say he can only leave for work in northern Georgia, which would prevent him from traveling to Maryland to attend the team practices that begin on June 13.

A spokeswoman for the federal Bureau of Prisons said the U.S. Probation Office oversees such petitions. No one from that office had a comment.
