After months of uncertainty about his NFL future, Peter Boulware has resigned with the Baltimore Ravens. The former Pro Bowl linebacker was originally released by the team back in May after missing the entire 2004 NFL season with knee and toe injuries. Since then, Boulware has gotten healthy and worked out for a handful of other teams, including the Seattle Seahawks and Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Baltimore Ravens have been in contact with their all-time sack leader for most of the past few months, and announced late Thursday that Boulware had passed the team's physical and would be in camp today. The team was pretty much forced to release Boulware because of salary cap restraints, but have been interested in bringing him back for another year. According to Ravens head coach Brian Billick, he will be eased back in slowly, avoiding any sort of contact drills right away.

The need for Boulware by the Ravens was escalated when rookie 2nd round pick Dan Cody severely sprained his knee August 1st. If Boulware can work his way back into the starting lineup, he will once again team with Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs to form one of the most imposing linebacker trios in the league.

Prior to last season, the 6-foot-4 255 pounder only missed one game in his seven years in the league, all in Baltimore. A first round pick in 1997, Peter Boulware has tallied 394 tackles, 66 1/2 sacks and 13 forced fumbles in his NFL career.
