The Washington Redskins signed safety Pierson Prioleau. The 6 year veteran was cut by the Buffalo Bills earlier in the offseason. Pioleau turned down Buffalo's offer to restructure his contract because he wanted more playing time.

Prioleau started all 16 games in 2002, but he was relegated to mostly special teams duty in 2004. He was a fourth-round draft pick by the San Francisco 49ers out of Virginia Tech University in 1999.

Prioleau's signing reunites him with Redskins assistant coaches Gregg Williams and Steve Jackson. Both men coached him while in Buffalo.

Prioleau hopes to compete with Sean Taylor and Matt Bowen for playing time.
