Redskins release Tim Hasselbeck

The Washington Redskins released quarterback Tim Hasselbeck. The Redskins also released wide receiver Jason Samples.

Patrick Ramsey has been designated the starter, Mark Brunell provides experience as a backup and Jason Campbell was drafted in the first round of this year's NFL draft.

The 6'1", 211 lbs. Hasselbeck did not see any action in 2004 as the Redskins' third QB option.

The Boston College product began his professional career with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2002 and then joined Washington in 2003. He has completed 53.7 percent of his passes with 5 TDs and 7 INTs for a 63.6 passer rating.

The 6'1", 197 lbs. Samples had been signed as undrafted rookie free agent out of Troy State (Alabama) after the 2005 draft.
