Washington Redskins free safety Sean Taylor turned himself in to Miami-Dade County police Saturday facing charges that include aggravated assault with a firearm and simple battery. He since been released on $16,500 bond. The Miami-Dade County clerk's office has yet to set an arraignment date. Police said the Redskins have cooperated during the investigation.

According to a police statement, the 22 year-old Taylor pointed a gun at an unidentified person Wednesday during a dispute over 2 all-terrain vehicles he claimed were stolen. The 6 foot 2 inch, 231 pound Taylor left the scene but returned about 10 minutes later and punched 1 individual.

Charles Elwood Caughman also threatened and chased another victim with a baseball bat, according to police. The 19 year-old Caughman was arrested later that day and charged with aggravated assault.

In 2004, Taylor had 76 tackles, 1 sack, 4 interceptions, 9 pass deflections, and 2 forced fumbles in 15 games. However, the former University of Miami star had a trying rookie season.

Taylor was accused of spitting on a player during a game at Cincinnati. He was not punished by the NFL because there was no video evidence.

He was also charged with drunken driving in October; he was pulled over at 2:45 am after attending a birthday party for wide receiver Rod Gardner. Those charges were dismissed in January.
