Washington Redskins safety Andre Lott hyperextended one of his knees over the weekend at mini-camp. Subsequent tests revealed a hairline fracture of the joint. Lott will be placed on crutches for up to 4 weeks. That will give him 2 weeks to prepare for the start of the Redskins' training camp, which begins on July 31.

The 5 foot 10 inch, 196 pound Lott had only 11 tackles and 1 pass deflection in 4 games during 2004 in a reserve role. The defensive back suffered a torn pectoral muscle against the Green Bay Packers last year.

The former Tennessee Volunteer is entering his fourth professional season, all with the Redskins. He has 37 tackles and 1 sack in 31 games during his career.
