When all-everything wide receiver Marques Colston went down with a thumb injury earlier this season, it appeared the Saints' passing game would take a substantial hit. However, unheralded veteran wideout Lance Moore -- who has 14 catches and 179 yards over the past two weeks -- is doing everything he can to make sure that's not the case.

Commentary: Moore, undrafted in 2006 out of Toledo, has exceeded the expectations of everyone around him, largely thanks to his growing relationship with quarterback Drew Brees. While other players like Robert Meachem and Devery Henderson, both former SEC greats, get all the press, the best option Brees has to throw to is also his smallest target at 5-foot-9. Size doesn't matter to Moore, though. Always counted out, he has been up to the challenges presented by opposing defenses.

Where Moore fits into the big picture once Colston returns is something worth debate. It would make sense to put him as the No. 2 wideout and let Colston pick teams apart in the medium to deep passing lanes. Meachem as a third receiver would force teams to expand their coverage, leaving Moore open consistently on slants and comeback routes.

Will Moore go off Monday night against a Vikings secondary that ranks in the middle of the league? There's a good chance.

Fantasy Football Commentary:
With Colston and David Patten out, Moore is the best receiver the Saints have. If you haven't picked him up on the waiver wire, now is the time to do so. Let other people beat each other up for Meachem, who is only a deep threat. Moore can run short routes effectively, which presents him more opportunities.

Injury Watch:
Colston will not play this Monday, but look for him to return in Week 6 against Raiders.
