The Saints, led by Drew Brees and Reggie Bush, may be the greatest show on turf right now, but it's all for nothing if New Orleans' defense keeps allowing teams to throw parties in the end zone at such a normal rate. The Saints are currently giving up 351.6 yards a game, and they made journeyman Vikings quarterback Gus Frerotte look like something special in Monday night's loss.

Commentary: For the most part, the key to success in football is playing solid defense. Ask the 2000 Baltimore Ravens about that. The Saints' defense would be the anti-Ravens at this point and it is killing the performances of their offensive skill players. The loss to the Vikings is a key example. Reggie Bush set an NFL record with two punt return touchdowns in a single game and it didn't matter. Why? Because the Saints couldn't stop the Vikings from kicking a game-winning field goal.

The Saints are averaging over 27 points per game, which should obviously be enough. Not when you surrender 26 points a game, though, and that's why New Orleans is just 2-3.

Fan Pulse: The Saints' Sanitarium is knocking heads over WR Devery Henderson's comparison of the 2008 Saints to Mike Martz's old Rams teams: http://whodatzone.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=29619.

Fantasy Football Commentary: Monday, we were bragging about WR Lance Moore's chances versus the vulnerable Vikings. Yeah, what I meant was ... it might be better to pick up Henderson. Moore, for whatever reason, failed to impress us. Henderson didn't, though, gaining 104 yards receiving and a TD pass. If he's available, it may be a good idea to grab him as a third WR option.

Injury Watch: WR David Patten, who missed Monday's game, was out for Wednesday's practice.
