Top-ranked quarterback Drew Brees has been doing just fine throwing the ball to second-tier receivers like Devery Henderson this season. This week, though, he'll look to go deep to one of the best wideouts in the NFL, Marques Colston. It could be the difference between the Saints being tied for first in the NFC South or falling two games behind the Carolina Panthers, whom they face this week.

Colston was sidelined since Week 1 with a torn thumb ligament; it continued a line of injuries that Colston has had since entering the NFL in 2006. Because he's missed so much time, Colston almost certainly won't match last season's numbers -- 98 catches, 1,202 yards -- but his return will mean big things for a team that is already averaging 28.7 points a game. If the Saints can do that without Colston, then imagine what is going to happen once Brees and his favorite target get back to their pass-and-catch ways.

The Panthers will have to respect Colston's deep-threat ability even if he is still somewhat rusty. Remember, it's his thumb that was hurt, not his legs. Those work just fine.

Fan Pulse:
Saints fans are ready to see how good this team can be with a healthy Colston: http://whodatzone.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=29784.

Fantasy Football Commentary: Colston is outstanding, but temper your expectations with him this week. The Panthers have a legitimately solid defense and it may take at least one or two games before Colston exceeds 100 yards receiving.

Injury Watch:
RB Reggie Bush didn't participate in team drills Thursday, but the good news that is he was involved in individual drills. He is probable for Sunday's game against Carolina.
