S.O.S. stood for "Save our Saints" a few years ago. In 2008, it should mean "Save our season." The Saints find themselves behind the 8-ball in Week 10 as they prepare to face the surprisingly solid Atlanta Falcons. The days of showing up and beating the Falcons -- who are 5-3 -- are gone, and the Saints still have to battle their NFC South rival twice. A loss this weekend would drop the Saints to 4-5, putting them behind the playoff curve.

Commentary:Quarterback Drew Brees may be ready to take down Dan Marino's single-season passing yardage record, but he is likely going to have to summon even more heroics this season if the Saints hope to grab a playoff spot. That starts this week against a Falcons defense that is anything but perfect. Make no mistake, the Saints will put up points.

But it will take more than offense to beat Atlanta. Joey Harrington isn't running the show anymore. That honor belongs to Matt Ryan, a legitimate rookie of the year candidate. Add in running back Michael Turner and wide receiver Roddy White, both of whom are having career years, and the Saints will have to play their best all-around game this season. But let's be honest -- if the Saints deserve a playoff spot, they should be expected to play well on both sides of the ball. It's too much to ask for Brees and friends to put up 35 points a week.

Fan Pulse: A legit Falcons team? It appears so to New Orleans forum fanatics.

Fantasy Football Commentary: By no means is Deuce McAllister a powerhouse anymore, but he might be worth a play this week against a defense that gives up 120.9 ground yards a game.

Injury Watch: RB Reggie Bush missed practice Wednesday and isn't expected to play Sunday.
