I was wondering if any NFL team would be in need of an eleven-time Pro Bowl linebacker who has started in 221 of 224 games played in his career?

The New Orleans Saints could use such a player. Especially one who has Super Bowl championship experience.

Derrick Brooks worked out for the Saints this morning with hopes of being picked up after being released from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during this past offseason. The 14-year veteran can definitely bring a lot to the team during the upcoming season.

Brooks has been a steady performer both on the field and in the locker room throughout the course of his entire professional career. He has definitely not lost a step considering that he has been in the NFL for such a long time.

The former Florida State Seminole can definitely team up with current Saints’ linebackers Scott Fujita, Scott Shanle and Jonathan Vilma in helping to make the defense just that much better.

I am more than quite sure that first-year defensive coordinator Gregg Williams along with Sean Payton can definitely appreciate the services of Mr. Brooks. The Saints as an organization appears to be going into the right direction on defense especially with the much needed upgrading of their secondary as a whole.

Let’s just hope that the Saints do the right thing and pick Brooks up so that their defense can be just that much better in 2009.
