The New Orleans Saints cut converted free safety Tebucky Jones. By doing so, the team avoided paying roster bonus due.

Jones improved his stats dramatically from 2003 to 2004. He went from 69 tackles in 15 games to 101 in 16 contests.

The Saints acquired safety Dwight Smith earlier this month. When the team signed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety and Super Bowl hero to play free safety, it signalled the end Jones' days as a Saint.

The Saints traded third-, fourth- and seventh-round draft picks to the New England Patriots to acquire their strong safety in 2003. He has played in 103 games and made 405 tackles and 6 interceptions in his 7 year career.

The 6'2", 220 lbs. Jones is a product of Syracuse University.
