The New England Patriots and the New Orleans Saints have agreed to a trade that would send Pats WR Bethel Johnson to the Saints for DT Jonathan Sullivan. Johnson, a second-round pick, and Sullivan, a first-round pick, have fallen out of favor with their respective coaching staffs, and in Sullivan's case, with 2 different staffs.

During Sullivan's three year tenure in New Orleans, the 25-year old, appeared in 36 games with 17 starts. He registered 102 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 4 pass deflections. In New England, Sullivan will be fighting for playing time against a strong nucleus of young defensive linemen which includes Richard Seymour, Vince Wilfork, Ty Warren, Jarvis Green, and Marquise Hill.

In Johnson's three years, the speedster has mainly been used as a kick returner, leading the AFC his rookie season with a 28.2-yard average. However, during that span, the 27-year old has just 30 catches for 450 yards and 4 touchdowns, with 16 of those catches coming in 2003. The Saints are looking for him to fill the #3 slot behind starters Joe Horn and Dante Stallworth.
