KIRKLAND, Washington - The Seattle Seahawks finally added someone to their front office. The Seahawks on Wednesday named Tim Ruskell as president of football operations, another in a long line of moves in their front office this offseason. Ruskell replaces Bob Whitsitt, who was fired last month.

In addition to Whitsitt's firing, general manager Bob Ferguson resigned Tuesday and vice president Ted Thompson recently left to become GM of the Green Bay Packers. "From the beginning of his process we have sought, as our primary objective, someone with an eye for talent," Seahawks owner and Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen said. "We wanted a professional who had a strong football record and who had a knack for getting talented players into the roster."

Ruskell spent 17 seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he began as regional scout in 1987 before working his way up to director of player personnel in 2001. When former Tampa Bay general manager Rich McKay left for Atlanta, Ruskell followed him to the Falcons and served last season as the club's assistant general manager. "If there are 50 great evaluators of talent in the NFL, I believe Tim is in the top five," McKay said. "We had great success in the draft while we were in Tampa, due in large part to Tim and the players he would put up on the draft board and believe in."
