KIRKLAND, WA - The Seattle Seahawks released starting linebacker Anthony Simmons and safety Damien Robinson. The moves were made to give the Seahawks a better chance to re-sign DE Chike Okeafor.

Simmons, 28, started 79 of 86 games in his 7 year career with the Seahawks. He averaged just over 84 tackles per season and totaled 10 sacks, 9 interceptions and 7 forced fumbles.

Robinson, 31, missed all of last season with a shoulder injury. He signed as a free agent with Seattle in 2003 and started 4 of 15 games, recording 30 tackles and 1 interception.
