The Seattle Seahawks have finally come to terms with their franchise running back, Shaun Alexander. The Pro Bowl caliber running back has signed a one year tender for $6.32 million. There is one fairly unique caveat included in this contract. The contract stipulates that the Seahawks cannot designate Alexander as their franchise player at the end of this season. This means that if Seattle cannot secure a long-term deal for Alexander, he can become an unrestricted free agent in the off-season.

There is also a "no trade" clause in the contract. The Seattle Seahawks cannot trade Shaun Alexander without his permission. Now that the deal is signed, Alexander is expected to report to camp on Thursday and should be on the practice field by Friday.

Shaun Alexander has been one of the most prolific running backs in the NFL over the past four seasons. The 27 year-old back has averaged roughly 1,400 rushing yards per season over that span and has collected 70 total touchdowns. He posted his best numbers last year tallying over 1,600 rushing yards, 4.8 yards per carry, and 20 total touchdowns.
